The mod runs on the player's Minecraft client. The current Cipher releases do not require installation on the server, although server rules still apply.

Match the Minecraft version, Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Java runtime and declared dependencies before installing Cipher Client or a standalone Cipher mod.

Current official builds
Cipher Client has a separate JAR for each of Minecraft 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. The standalone mods have one JAR for Minecraft 1.21.x and one for 26.1+. Loader, Fabric API and Java requirements differ per build.

Use the complete matching line
A correct product name is not enough: the game, Loader, Fabric API, Java and dependencies must belong to the same environment.

Check the running Minecraft version
For Cipher Client, use the JAR with your exact version in its name. For the standalone mods, use the 1.21.x JAR for Minecraft 1.21 through 1.21.11, or the 26-plus JAR for Minecraft 26.1 and newer.

Meet the Loader and Java minimums
Cipher Client needs Loader 0.18.4+ on 1.21.11, 0.19.3+ on 26.1.2 and 0.19.5+ on 26.2 and 26.3. The standalone mods need Loader 0.15.11+ on 1.21.x and 0.18.4+ on 26.1+. Java 21 is used for 1.21.x and Java 25 for 26.x.

Add required dependencies
Cipher Client needs Fabric API for the same Minecraft version. BetterChat needs Fabric API and Cipher HUB 1.0.0+. Cipher HUB needs Fabric API. AntiEffect needs neither.

What the requirements mean
Cipher Client and all standalone Cipher mods are client-side Fabric mods, but their shared libraries differ.
Fabric Loader
Fabric Loader discovers the mod JAR and checks the Minecraft, Java and dependency constraints declared in its metadata.
Loader vs Fabric APIFabric API and HUB
Fabric API supplies shared hooks used by Cipher Client, BetterChat and Cipher HUB. BetterChat also uses HUB as its settings interface.

Different Minecraft lines declare different Loader and Java minimums, so Cipher publishes a separate file for each supported line.
